Mamod only made these models for three years, from 1949-52. They, along with their electric-driven counterpart, the Conquerer, were the only commercial 'failures' that Mamod ever produced. Apparently they were too expensive for the toy market of the time and for some reason people were becoming less interested in steam launches.
